Foi inaugurada a primeira fábrica de chips para rastreamento de bovino no Brasil. Fica em Porto Alegre, no Rio Grande do Sul.

Trata-se do primeiro passo concreto para inovação tecnológica nessa área. A produção de chips ocorre no Centro Nacional em Tecnologia Eletrônica Avançada (Ceitec).

O Ministério de Ciência e Tecnologia investiu R$400 milhões e, por enquanto, produz apenas chips para o rastreamento de rebanhos bovinos.
